EVAN WYLIE
Evan was born in Bedford, Nova Scotia and moved to British Columbia at the age of two. Growing up in White Rock, a suburb of Vancouver, with a Mum who loved to listen to classical music, he also became enthralled with classical music. At age eight Ev was encouraged to take classical guitar lessons, and continued to study this discipline until he turned thirteen in 1985. That was when he discovered bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Police, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Dire Straights, and he got his first electric guitar. Throughout high school Evan played in various garage bands and found that everyone and their granny were playing the guitar, but it was difficult to find a bass player. Ev bought a bass guitar at seventeen and found it exhilarating to play with the finger styles learned while studying classical guitar. For the next few years Evan was playing bass in several different bands in a seemingly endless attempt at making a go of any projects.
In 1998 Evan moved to Kelowna British Columbia, and was fed up with joining any more bands. But in 2001 he was introduced to Ryan, a guitar player that was involved in a couple of projects, including the band GHOSTMACHINE. Ev played with the band GHOSTMACHINE until it's ignominious demise into the abyss of non productive projects. Evan had all but forgotten about his musical ambitions, until September of 2006, when once again Ryan contacted him with an invite to jam with another project, SHIFTER45. He, not having played seriously in over three years, was a bit reluctant. It was only after hearing the "demo listen" that Ev couldn't wait to meet these guys. Since that first energetic meeting in September, Evan's jumped in with both feet with a true, new found feeling that SHIFTER45 is an avenue that he can travel to realize a longing for the capable aspiration that he desires. | |
